Andrew Wilder
For over 20 years Andrew has captured everything from combat operations to wedding vows in both still and video formats. His journey into photography started on a trip to Kenya in the 1990s. Before quality digital cameras were available, he picked up his father’s trusty Olympus OM-2 35mm film camera and quickly learned the fundamentals of light, exposure, focus, and perspective. He continued to experiment with still photography throughout high school, after which he joined the military to become a photographer/videographer. He underwent formal training at the Defense Information School, Fort George G. Meade, Maryland, where he learned, not only the basics of photography and composition, but also digital photo and video editing and the skills necessary to conceptualize and complete short and documentary films. After multiple deployments to combat and disaster relief areas during an eventful and exciting 6 years in the United States Air Force, Andrew separated and began freelance photography for weddings in Charleston, SC, while he finished his degree at the University of Charleston. During this time, Andrew honed his craft by creating albums and videos for hundreds of clients documenting their perfect wedding day. Andrew currently resides in Durham, North Carolina where he enjoys spending time behind the lens, second only to spending time with his family. Frequently, he can be found exploring and photographing the beautiful Sarah P. Duke Gardens, nearby state and national parks, shooting portraits of family and friends, or practicing technical product photography in his home studio.
